April 2010

Well the end of March through the beginning of April we headed to good ole' Titusville for a couple of weeks. Barry was asked by his brothers church to come speak at a spring break mission project they were having. So we used this time as a family vacation. We did a ton of cool stuff. We took the boys to the Jungle Adventures one day, where you get to feed alligators and go on a boat ride through the swamp filled with gators. They got to hold or at least pet one. It was really cool. Eli was terrified and Isaac was ready to jump in and be the next Alligator Hunter. We went to the beach and just some good ole family time. After Barry finished speaking he got on a plane and headed back home to the SC to pack and get ready for a mission trip to Belize with our students on their spring break. The boys and I stayed in FL for another week, looking back I should have gone home. I learned that week that going out of town for more than 8 days is to stressful. I thought it would be easier being there with family, but it came down to routine and there's not much to do in FL for free. In SC I've got the gym (2 hrs a day of FREE childcare), zoo pass, splash park, and our friends. All of which is FREE. Plus the kids stay on their normal schedule and don't get so whacked out. Anyways, lesson learned. It was fun other than that though.

We also got, finally, a patio off the back of our house. When we moved in 5 years ago today actually, there was a tri-level deck. We liked it but the wood was old and we knew one day we'd have to tear it down. Well two years ago, before Eli was born, Barry decided to tear it down. Yes you read it right, TWO YEARS AGO. He planned to pour the patio but then we decided to build a HUGE screened in deck. So last year we were going to do the patio, but we paid off my car instead. So FINALLY we got it!!! It was a long process, but fun to do. And the day the cement truck came to pour the cement the boys were in heaven. They would stand on the front porch and watch them dump it into the little motorized cart and then they would run through the house to the back deck to watch them pour it. I even let them put on there rain boots so they could walk through the cement like the workers. One day once it cools off we will have a party to show it off.

Oh yeah and I found out at the end of March that my Nikon D50 camera had its last day and was gone forever. Super bummed. I will again begin saving for another SLR camera. Bummer...
